How to install an eSIM

✅ Before we begin

Make sure to:

  • You need an eSIM compatible phone (see below).

  • Be connected to Wi-Fi (important for installation).

  • You have received your activation QR code by email (from Voyagesim.ca).


📱 eSIM compatible models (examples)

Apple (iOS):

  • iPhone XR, XS, XS Max or newer

  • iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)

  • All iPhone 14 and 15 models (eSIM only in the US)

Android:

  • Samsung Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24

  • Google Pixel 3 and +

  • Motorola Razr, Oppo Find X3, Huawei P40 (not the Lite), etc.


🧩 eSIM Installation Steps

▶️ For iPhone :

  1. Open Settings > Cellular / Cellular Data

  2. Tap Add a Cellular Plan

  3. Scan the QR code you received (keep it on another device or print it out)

  4. Wait for the package to install (a few seconds)

  5. Give it a name (e.g., "European Trip")

  6. Choose whether you want to use it for data only (recommended)

  7. Activate roaming for this plan if it is used abroad.

▶️ For Android (Samsung, Pixel, etc.):

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
    (depending on the model, this may vary slightly)

  2. Tap Add a mobile plan or eSIM

  3. Scan the QR code

  4. The profile will be installed automatically.

  5. Give it a name (optional)

  6. Make sure to enable data roaming for this profile if you are travelling.


📶 After installation

  • Wait until you reach your destination to activate the profile if it's a local plan (to avoid using it up prematurely).

  • You can keep your main SIM card for calls/SMS and use the eSIM for internet data only.
