How to Install an eSIM on iPhone and Android
✅ Before you start
Make sure to:
- Have an eSIM compatible phone (see below).
- Be connected to Wi-Fi (important for installation).
- Have received your activation QR code by email (from VoyageSIM.ca ).
📱 eSIM compatible models (examples)
Apple (iOS)
- iPhone XR, XS, XS Max or newer
- iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
- All iPhone 14 and 15 (eSIM only in the US)
Android
- Samsung Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24
- Google Pixel 3 and above
- Motorola Razr, Oppo Find X3, Huawei P40 (not the Lite), etc.
📱 How to install your eSIM (all phones)
Step 1: Prepare your device
- Check that your device is eSIM compatible.
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi recommended).
- Have the QR code or activation information sent by your carrier handy.
Step 2: Open Settings
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular (or Mobile) Data → Add eSIM.
- Android: Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIM Manager → Add eSIM.
Step 3: Choose the installation method
📸 Installation via QR code
- Open eSIM settings as above.
- Select “Use a QR code” .
- Scan the QR code provided by your carrier.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete activation.
✏️ Manual entry (if no QR code)
- Select “Enter details manually” .
- Enter the following information:
- SM-DP+ address
- Activation code provided by your operator.
Using only one phone? A QR code displayed on that same phone generally cannot be scanned with its own camera. Open the email on another device, print the QR code, or use manual entry when that option is available.
Step 4: Install and activate the eSIM at the right time
Installation adds the eSIM profile to your phone. Then follow your plan instructions. For a local plan, you should generally wait until you reach your destination before enabling the line and mobile data.
Step 5: Configure mobile data
VoyageSIM plans are data-only plans:
- In cellular settings, select the VoyageSIM eSIM as your mobile data line.
- You can keep your primary SIM for calls and text messages.
- Enable data roaming on the eSIM only when your plan instructions require it, and disable it on your primary line to avoid charges.
- Test the connection by opening a web page.
Step 6: Final Check
- If the internet connection is working, your eSIM is active.
- If it doesn't activate, restart your device and try again.
- If the problem persists, contact support: info@voyagesim.ca
