A travel eSIM is not automatically useful at every stopover. Review included countries, validity rules and first-connection conditions before buying.

Can a travel eSIM work inside an airport?
An eSIM can provide cellular data inside an airport when the transit country is included in the selected plan and a partner network has reception near your phone. Indoor coverage can vary: some terminals and transit areas have weaker cellular signal.
This is not in-flight internet. Ordinary VoyageSIM travel eSIMs use terrestrial cellular networks and do not guarantee connectivity during a flight.
For a very short connection, airport Wi-Fi may be sufficient. A data eSIM is more useful if you want a mobile option that does not depend entirely on public Wi-Fi.

Which plan should cover several flight connections?
Check every transit country as well as your final destination. A national plan for your arrival country may not cover the connection airport. A regional or World eSIM can cover more than one location, but only if each is included in the plan's destination list.
A two-hour layover does not imply a two-hour plan is sold. VoyageSIM products have fixed validity periods, often measured in days. Choose among actually available variants and confirm your data needs before buying.

Can using the eSIM during a layover start validity?
Yes, depending on the plan. Some travel products start validity on the first connection to a supported partner network; others use different rules. Connecting during a layover may therefore begin the plan's validity before you reach your main destination.
Read the delivery instructions, installation deadlines and validity trigger. Install over reliable Wi-Fi where advance setup is allowed: waiting until you lose connectivity can make installation difficult.
Tip: save your onward boarding pass, reservations and essential contact details offline. A data eSIM is not emergency phone service.

Airport connection checklist
- List every transit country and final destination.
- Confirm the plan includes each relevant location and partner network.
- Verify the phone is eSIM-compatible and unlocked.
- Check validity start rules and setup instructions.
- Install using Wi-Fi if preparation before travelling is permitted.
- During transit, switch to VoyageSIM mobile data only when you are ready to use the plan.

Choose an eSIM for your international layover
Use the VoyageSIM catalogue to choose a plan covering your actual itinerary. If a transit country is not included, do not assume the eSIM will work merely because your final destination is covered.
VoyageSIM offers Quebec-based customer support and data-only plans, without local numbers, traditional cellular voice calls or SMS.
